PISCES MOON

That’s Mars above the moon’s
cupped crescent, this moon
is young, but
the combative planet
escorting it is calmed somewhat
by the ocean through which they swim.

The Earth is as it always is
in this measure of the year,
an uneasy sleep.

While the ground is solid
with frozen mud beneath the snow,
we feel a stirring toward
the moon & Mars above,
the first frail flowers are the strongest.

(However, I am not sure if
the planet is Mars, it may be
Venus, if so, are these lines
made for a lover a lie?)
