DESIRE POEM

whatever I have said to you
        it was all desire

        when I looked at you
        inhaled your perfume
        it was desire

        when we danced
        my dance was desire

        perhaps I lied to you
        about my intentions
but I tell the truth now
        it is all desire

        I clean this apartment
        because I desire you
        I cannot touch myself
        because I desire you

        you are afraid of desire
        I am also afraid
        yet desire chooses our music

        what I can give you
        is my desire
        it is not blurred
        or confused
        it is going toward you
        & no one else

if it does not find you
        it will die

        if you come with me
        I will still desire you
        but all else will change
