A SNAPSHOT HIDDEN INSIDE A BOOK

In that forfeited time, a blue lake
through the window behind her head,
a paneled kitchen wall,
leftovers on her plate

Smiling, round-faced
at the center, a center
like the Moon between
the Earth & the Sun

Then an eclipse,
both sources of light gone,
the bright landscape
& the pale, reflected mystery.

Her meal finished,
relaxing on a couch,
she wore dark eyeshadow before
a strange twilight came to stay
